South is declarer in a 6 NT contract. Here is the play to the first five tricks:

West leads J♣️ to Dummy’s A♣️.  Declarer starts out trying to drop the Q♦️ by cashing A♦️ and then K♦️.  Unfortunately, West shows out on the second ♦️. East wins the third ♦️ trick with the Q♦️.  At trick 5 East leads 5♣️ to declarer’s K♣️. You can now count 11 winners (three ♣️s, five ♦️s, two ♥️s, and one ♠️). What three-card ending should you strive for? (What should you play from dummy on trick 5?)

Solution—

Your best chance for this hand is to play for a spade/heart squeeze. Here is the three-card ending you should play for:

The A♠️ has already been played.  If the defender with the K♠️ started with four or more ♥️s then their partner cannot help with the ♥️s. In this ending the squeezed defender will save the K♠️ and unguard the ♥️s.  The 5♥️ will be your 12^th trick.  Even if the ♥️s were originally 3-3 the other defender may save a ♣️ and also unguard the ♥️s.  This time making the slam on a pseudo double squeeze!
I hope that you discarded ♠️s on the K♣️ and Q♣️.

Note that East could have defeated the contract by returning a ♥️ at trick 5.  This totally wrecks the North/South transportation.
